Feona Lee Jones currently lives in California and will complete her Ph.D. in Composition at UCLA in 2025. She holds a B.A. in Piano Performance and M.F.A. in mixed media from Mills College, as well as a M.A. in Composition from UCSC. Currently, she works as a UCLA Teaching Associate and composer. Her compositions draw on a diverse range of influences, including classical, jazz, North Indian classical music, post-punk, heavy metal, avant-garde film, and electronic music, as well as inspirations from giallo Italian horror and film noir soundtracks. She has been commissioned and has had works premiered by prestigious ensembles, organizations, and artists such as Lyris String Quartet, Del Sol String Quartet, Vórtice String Quartet, Composers Inc., Galen Lemmon’s Percussion Ensemble, Awesome Orchestra, The Humane League, Opera on the Spot, Luger Hofmann-Engl, Invoke String Quartet, and Roberto Granados. Never satisfied with a single medium, she has worked in concert music, film music, interactive games, opera, and her band, Telepathic Birds. She is currently composing her third String Quartet for Lyris Quartet, which is to be premiered 2026.
