Analysis of J S Bach’s Crucifixus from Mass in B Minor (BWV 232)

I analyzed “Crucifixus” from Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Mass in B Minor” (BWV 232). This composition is a pivotal part of the larger Mass, renowned as one of Bach’s masterpieces and a cornerstone of Western classical choral music. It vividly portrays the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the agonizing ordeal he bore on the cross. The music’s essence lies in its mournful and reverential demeanor, effectively conveying feelings of distress and contemplation. Bach achieves this by employing an array of musical techniques.
